Default Autocross 2008

Well today was the first autocross of the year here in the Finger Lakes Region. I ran some decent times. 54.6, 53.7, 53.5 and i forget the last one since i spun out. I think it would have been a 51 second run but i came out of the slalom with a little too much speed and the weight transfer kicked my rear end out. But the day was awesome nonetheless. Fastest times of the day were in the 46-48 second range. I was 7th of probably 30 or so novices before my last run. I think the next event on May 11 should be good now that i've got a better idea of the potential of my new setup.

Anyway here's some pics.

haha, yessir. The instructor told me to leave it in 2nd gear since it was shifting to 3rd and 4th. But that tranny is notoriously weak and gave out on me about a month later.

Yea the photographer at the events is pretty good.

so how is it now with a manual tranny? i bet it is a lot harder having to shift and steer. did your times improve with the manual tranny? have you learned to heel / toe brake or shift or whatever it is?

Yea, he's pretty cool. He drives a stock white evo that is rediculously fast. It's wild to watch because he spends have the time on wheels. Unfortunately he blew his front driverside shock and couldn't finish the day. I opted to have an instructor because i like to get their advice at least on the first run.

It's great with the manual tranny! For most courses shifting isn't really a concern, I get it into 2nd and leave it there for my entire run. doing 50-60 mph in 2nd = fun. haha If it's a tight course downshifting into 1st is done pretty commonly amongst the integra drivers, but i'm too scared to down shift into 1st over 15 mph.

nope, i scraped the mid-pipe though going over a speed bump last week. Of course my car had 3 passengers and 5 cinder blocks in the truck <_<

I just have to be careful when parking. I like to back into spaces and so i make sure not to back up too far since my muffler sits below the height of the curb. I'm actually debating dropping the rear another 1/4 inch, but i think it's good where it is.
