It just Happened a couple of Months ago and was Parked ever since. The day it happened, they just drove back to the Pad and was never turned on again till my Cousin bought it.
So there's not that much Damage. Looks like just Poor Maintenance to me (I could be wrong tho)

Funny you ask. My Cousin called me yesterday cause he wanted to know how I did with that Valve spring compressor tool and I told him it works Great.

He ordered that Bad Valve already so as soon as he gets it, I'll go over to his House, replace the Valve and put everything together. It's a Holiday Weekend so maybe Next Weekend.

10/05/08 Sun.
Almost done. The civic is looking clean.
Replaced the Exhaust Valve, Cleaned the Blocks surface and Replaced the Head Gasket. Removed the Old Intake Manifold Gasket (What a Pain in the @ss) and hooked everything back up.
Used the Same Head Bolts also. Removed the Motor Mount to loosen the Tensioner Bolt and Put the Timing Belt Back on (Block to TDC and Head to Up right position Markings) Almost finished.
When removing the Valve Train to Replace the Exhaust Valve, My Cousin accidentally loosened the Valve adjustment (live and learn, it happened to me too a while back)
So now all he need to do is a Valve Adjustment and she should fire right up.
It need a new windshield too but I don't think he's going to replace it. He want that car out of his Pad ASAP!! We just don't have that much time to work on that damn Civic. Let's see what happens this weekend.

Cool. No Work Today
I went to my Primo's Pad and Helped him some more. I have pics but don't have my Cord!

Valve Adjustment Done (according to Specs)

The Civic Turns on and Sounds SMOOTH!

Degreased the Engine and let it sit for a while, then hosed it down. Looks Better than Before. Engine was degreased to check for additional Leaks. (Maybe Oil Pan)
Pics will follow.

Here are the Pics:

Here's that exhaust Valve. You were right Clyde, That is a Big Chunk!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sometimes they're Easy to scrape off, Sometimes they're not (this one wasn't!)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

But it cleaned up pretty good and cleaned up the Surface of the Block and the Head:

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Head Gasket in place. I like to use something to guide me while I put the Head on (just so I won't mess up the Head Gasket)
So we used these 2 thin punch tools (worked perfect, kinda like Head Studs)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Fall right on. Then pulled out them Punch Tools from the Top of the Head.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

He used the Same Head Bolts (no biggy) just gave them 5 more pounds of Torque.
Also Lubed up the Thread a little with motor oil.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Just made sure that the Markings of the Cam Gear and the Pulley were at TDC and put the Timing Belt on
(That's why I marked them before I Removed everything)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My Cousin also did a Valve Adjustment (Cause he accidentally messed with it) After that was done, She fired up like nothing and SOUNDS SUPER QUIT!
Thumbsup Primo.

good idea with the guides for the head. I was having some trouble getting my head to sit right when i did my head swap. that would have made things a lot easier!

Thanks!
You know I'm actually impressed by this Fact. When I helped my Buddy Replace his Head Gasket on his Del Sol, I pinched the Head Gasket a couple of Times and like you guys, I too was getting kinda Pist Off cause with the Block in the Car and the Intake and Exhaust Manifolds it's a B!tch to line it up Straight, but we manage to put it together.
When I was helping my Cousin, I thought about how easy it is when you use Head Bolts. After his First attempt and it didn't Line Up, I told him if he has something to use as Guides, anything, hek even 4 Pencils would Work

Will do. It was still smoking after we washed it Down, that's why I didn't take a Final Pic.

Ok here's the Scoop.

Some of you remember that we swapped to a D16a cause the z6 was just burning oil (the one that was on the FS Thread). couldn't find another z6...

Well, after a while of normal daily driving, couple of weeks ago on a Bad Rainy Day, my Cousins Sister ran it through a Huge Puddle and the Car Stalled. It didn't hydro lock cause she waited it out and my cousin managed to start it up and drove off.

The Next day it developed a light knock. The d16a had a 6month warranty so he took the Car to that engine store and they said they'll take it back and give him another one. Cool!

Well, Not even Half Way Home, THE DAMN THING POPPED!! lol

Towed it to the Pad and pulled it for inspection...

see the hole to the Left of the oil filter??

the front..

the rear..

The Rod Broke and it just Tore up the Block!
I couldn't open it cause he had to take it to the Engine Store so they can see. They don't have another D16 to replace it. So they gave him the Money Back.

So now he's down to this...

After 30min of trying to Convince him to keep it and let's mess with it, He said, Screw it Yay!

Now I just need to talk him into putting a B16 and help him as much as I can. It's going to talk a Loooong Time cause He Works like Crazy and I'm going to start putting in Work at my Job also, but let's see how it works out. I am excited to the Max cause Finally I brought him back to the Game

So I guess stay tuned....
