Question auto tranny question.

idk if i can ask this question on this Honda/Acura site but uh here it goes..

i have a friend who has a 00 Dodge Neon auto transmission and his car can only drive on 1st gear. car wont shift to 2nd gear no matter what he do.. so his cars max is around 20-25 mph.. LOL.

anyone know what the problem is? a lot of people saying theres something wrong on the computer, others say tranny problem.. what do you guys think?

sounds like a clutch pack is worn out. it's definately a tranny problem. which is odd for the neon because those auto trannys are bullet proof.

sounds like he ran it without tranny fluid and its on its last leg! if it was a computer issue, you should have all the gears still, just a redline of around 3k instead of the stock 6k+

have him change the filter if it has one and completely flush the tranny and refill the tranny with a good ATF and see if that helps i know through work ive had people come in saying " my car won't get out of first'" and then the next day they come in saying that the tranny tune up worked and its a "miracle" just try that before you go do anything else
