Unhappy Speeding Ticket....

i got a freaking speeding ticket on the way home today....

totally ridiculous and im pleading not guilty and im taking the cop to court.....

i was driving down the highway, and i even saw the cop about 1/2 to 3/4 of a mile down the raoad sitting on the shoulder, and i was doing 63/65 ish at the time and i kept the speed, well there was somebody riding my butt so bad i coundn't even see the headlights and i just kept my speed, well then a lady in a SUV comes cutting across two lanes and starts coming over on me so i speed up to get past so i don't get hit and i couldn't slam on my breaks because i would have been rear ended....

thats a good reason right? I mean I couldn't think about anything i did it all happened in like 2 second so it was really just impulse.... oh well im determined to win because when the cop came up to my car he told me 75 and he wrote 80 on the ticket so that adds 5mph to my record and my insurance goes up more because of that, but here's the cool thing, if i set a court date and the cop doesn't show, i automatically win, and being a cop and it being a monday lol, well, i might just win by defualt but either way im going to win because that is ridiculous, the cop even saw the whole thing happen and neither the person riding my butt nor the person coming into my lane were ticketed, just me for speeding to avoid an accident..... pretty ridiculous.....

The cop in the Dodge Charger is always sitting in the brush on the right hand side of the highway he has been sitting there everyday straight for the past week, but whatever....

If anyone has any advice for me please let me know, i really need to win this case or i might have to sell my car.... and i really don't want to do that
i just can't afford what my insurance will be with the accident from may and now this ticket.... give me some advice on anything!

~Matt~

My way of thinking was always go ahead and hit me. Tailgating is a huge pet peve of mine and I often hit my brakes for no reason when people do it. If they hit me, it's their fault for following too close and I get paid. I also have the luxury of having nothing on my record and being older so it would not effect my insurance (as much or at all). I have won a case in the past when I knew I was right and the cop didn't show for court. That's gonna be your best bet. that or flee to canada and join the import scene up there

damn dude, you are just having a bad run of luck. why did he lock you up though? that doesn't sound like standard proceedure for a speeding ticket and and having underlighting.

Check it out Youngster, Accept your Ticket (I know that sounds kinda stupid right now). Let me tell you some (not a couple) of run ins I had.
I have a total of 32 tickets in the past 10 years. I would say more than half were fix it tickets. Anyway, 4 of them were for speeding. ALWAYS plead NOT GUILTY. In California I'll tell you what I've done. I went to the clerks window and pay the Fine. Some being from $250 to $390 (The $390 was for speeding more than 100mph), and I let the clerk know that I would like to plead "NOT GUILTY". They would give me another court date like around a month later with the Cop before a Judge. 1 out of 12 times that I have done this, the Cop showed up. If the Cop shows up, then you have a case that most likely you will loose. If the Cop doesn't show up, then there's no case and the Judge will dismiss my case, Erase the Ticket and Refund my Cash. So hopefully that happens to you like you say.
I'm really sorry to hear what happened to you Dawg. I know that one is hard to swallow but just accept it for right now.
One more thing, As for as your Insurance goes, I'd go to traffic school so it wont appear in your Driving Record. Hek, you could even complete it online.

Attorney = hired, he's one of the best guys in this area, and has only lost 15 of his 276 recent cases, all of which for speeding, and he's really not expensive at all, 45 bucks for everything... and he's a family friend lol

dam, see what i said about the lights. cops will and can pull you over for anything, what are you gona say, " Does he really think im gona stop?" lol, its really bad around here, there are alot of dumb kids that like to street race and act stupid, i am a tuner, and an Import Enthusiast that likes to have a clean and sexy looking car, and its hard to convince them that i am not like one of thoes kids that are going to be street racing and causing trouble on the roads.

the only advice that i can give to you is that you know whats under your hood, and what goes on your car, they cant pin you for something that is legal, if its hanging off the car or its causing a problem, then yeah they can call you on it. but if its by the book, they cant say jack. also remember that they cant touch your car unless they are a certified mechanic. THEY MUST SHOW YOU THERE LICENSE.

just try to keep out of the HOT spots, and find other ways around town, good luck on the ticket problems tho.

Most if not all cops have nothing better to do then harass people like us. I have been stopped so many times for the stupidest things. Luckily up to now I have gotten off every time. Maybe it's because I'm a girl..hehe. In either case I am sure everyone on here has had at least one bad experience involving a cop...lol.

Well I hope you win your case. Rub it in the cops face..haha
