They're definitely not as strong as the 6-speed and there's stories all over Nasioc about people breaking them...but it's been my understanding as long as you're not launching the car all the time and slam-shifting, you should generally be okay. I just wouldn't excessively beat on it all the time. My friend has done about 15 honest launches in his car including a few track runs and hasn't had an issue yet, but he typically doesn't beat on it on a daily basis.

Watch out for the inner fender wells out back...and the rocker panels. That's typically where rust likes to hide. I wouldn't worry quite as much about the bumper beams and the like, because typically even relatively new cars will have some surface rust in those areas.

Correct. Although people claim that the 2006-2007 WRX actually put down 20 more hp at the wheels than the 02-05 models. The new WRX is actually as fast as the STi in most magazine tests in acceleration runs.

Good luck with the bugeye...they're incredibly fun cars, and really easy to make fast. I'm assuming at this point the stock Bridgestone Potenza RE92's are long gone, but if they're not...make sure you replace/upgrade those soon as they're one of the biggest weak links in an otherwise solid package.

Yeah, he resurfaces from time to time to post a few comments and then runs off for six months to a year, lol...

Yea it's got some crappy Michelins on it at the moment. I think I may end up getting another set of wheels and putting some Azenis, XS's, or RE-11's (if i'm feeling like spending money). I'm missing the grip the civic has, lol.

EDIT: I did test drive an 09' wrx and loved it. In the end I decided I didn't need a 27k car at the moment, lol.
