Default Window Tinting?

hey does anyone have any tips for tinting windows? i'm trying to consider having it done or attempting it myself. i have the necessary tools and time (besides a heat gun) to do the project but i don't want to waste that time or money spent 'attempting' this project. i've heard that its quite difficult without experience? the tint itself would cost me about 40-50$ depending on how much i mess up, but theres a shop that could could do it for me for 125 for the whole car w/ visor. tell me your opinions. thanks

Have someone do it. Most offer life time warranties on the tint. It's not worth the hassle and will most likely peel/bubble in less then a year if you don't do it right.

Where are you buying the Tint from? If you have experience with it, do it. Sorry but if you don't have the money to waste to practice, then don't do it.

I have a Compadre that works at a Auto Glass Shop and does Tint on the side for Cheap. It took him a lot of Practice and Material to get it right. Now he's a Damn Pro.

I would just take it in and have a Shop do it. Besides they offer at least 5yr warrenty.

On a side note, if you want to give it a Shot, then go for it. Take some pics if you could.

x2 on that.

I have seen people try it and have bad results. for the time and and effort you would put into it, it still won't look as good as having a pro do it (no offense). it's just not easy to do without a lot of practice. $125 is a good price. I just paint $210 for 20% all the way around and a sun visor in my 2 door. It was pricey because they used 3M tint and it has a lifetime warranty.

hey, ya thanks guys, i'm just gonna leave it too the pro's, too risky to waste money on film and have it come up bad, then wish i would've gotten it done right. anyone got any tips on percentages? i was thinking like 20 all around with visor but i'm afraid that'll be too dark for night time driving ( obstruct vision ). anybody have any experience with 20? cause my friend has 20 and it looks nice when the sun is out but i'm not sure about when its dark. HELP! haha

I have 5% Limo on mine. That's Dark enough. But I removed the front Door Windows.

Cops might tell you something if you get your Front Windows. So, you lighter on that one.

Oh and I would Skip the Visor

Depends on local laws and how the cops are in your area. Also the installer may or may not want to exceed local laws, in some towns the installer can get fined.

On our Maxima we have 35% on the front/rear sides and 20% in the rear window, no visor. This was the darkest we can go here. The interior is charcoal leather so it's plenty dark. I don't have anything to hide like pata. j/k

This is my second car with 20% all the way around. I love the way it looks from the outside, but it is hard to see at night. Mostly when you have to back up. My prelude has 35% all the way around and I think it looks pretty good from the outside too and it is a little easier to see at night.

96 - 00 Civic is the Same front Windshield so I know exactly how it's going to look.

It's just my opinion, Visor Tint is Oldskool.
