i was pretty stoked up until i started to try and spin the gears, one of the lower planetary gears seemed to be seized, upon further investigation

there was a ridge left from the machining process it 's pretty hard to see, but it's there

this is the best shot i got of it

all of the area's for the planets and sun gears were still realy rough from the milling process, so i went to town with the dremel, started out with the die grinder for the ridge, then went to the green grinding stone, then the sanding drum, then the polisher and this is what i got

there was one other area that sketched me out

it's the alignment tab for the two housing's but a lil dremel and then ifelt safe about it

now onto to reassembly

this is what i used for the "break in " lube

being very liberal

i coated the entire housing for the planetaries, sun gears an inner race gears

got er all lubed up and almost ready for instalation

waiting to get new bolts to connect the two shell's, gonna pick up some 6 or 12 point's, either grade 8 or 10.9, whatvers available lol

more to come, gotta get back to work lol

Nice! What made you disassemle the LSD? I wouldn't have thought to pull it apart and check the quality of the inner workings.

if ya wanna move it to diy that's kewl, idc really lol. i figured i'd post it here cuz i felt it more of a product review more than diy

if i wasn"t on a time frame issue i'd consider sending it back, but then i'd have to pay for shipping.

what made me take it apart was from the research i've done, there were a batch made (when i don"t know) where the threads were stripped, and the fact that the gear's didn"t move freely made me really sketched out so i tore it apart.

so now it moves fairly well, but with that trans gel in there it's prettty stiff, but once it's installed the oil will get in there and should be good to go

monday we start manual trans in school, re-doing the synchros and bearings. Hopefully the overhaul should only take about a week, day one will be removal of the trans from the bay, and tear down. now thatit's the weekend there won"t be any more work done.

ya car lol, basically the stock diff has recess' cut into the diff casing so you can torque the bolts down with a socket...........ya the obx don"t got that, it's pretty sweet tring to torque down 80 ft/lbs on a 1/4" drive socket

all the retaining bolts have a flange on them, and they ALL had to be ground down to fasten the damm thing

the impact wont fit

neither will the deep well

or the short well

only the quarter inch drive............
