Default Is a $50 Electric Supercharger Worth it?

This is one of those "if it sounds too good to be true it probably is" and "you get what you pay for" items.

It's not a real supercharger, but a fan that gets put on your intake to supposedly increase air flow. Many times they are just the little air blowers that are sold at marina shops. There is no way that an electric fan could possibly create enough pressure in your intake that would amount to even 1 psi of boost. Most importantly, by putting a foreign object in your intake you run the risk of parts being sucked into your intake manifold and thats just not good.

Also included in this category would be the Tornado, the finned metal piece that goes in your intake tubing to create a tornado of air into your throttle body. These have been tested by Car and Driver and have actually been found to decrease performance. Like the "electric supercharger", its just not good to put foreign metal objects in your intake.
